Hi
I have an old Yamaha 2A Auxilliary. The carb is totally rebuilt and it has a new plug. Starts and runs as new - BUT if taken over half revs it just dies. Throttle back a tad and it picks up again.
Thought carb rebuild would solve, but it didn't - Any ideas from all you experts out there ?.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Yamaha 2A

Hi Dave
This will probably get moved to the Yamaha page, but in the meantime, have you set the gap right on the new plug? I think it should be 0.028".

Also, are you sure the carb was cleaned properly, ie, blown through with carb cleaner and compressed air? And is the carb adjusted properly? If answer yes to these questions, you may have an air leak in the fuel pipe. Replace it with a new one and use new clips.

Good luck
Steve

Hi
Thanks for your reply .It has a new fuel pipe and clips. All jets/passageways were blown out with a 90psi airline. Will try re-adjusting carb - was set up with a Colortune see-thro plug to correct color/mixture.
Dave

Mmm.... You need to get a manual to set the carb right, or ask on the yamaha forum. What about reeds?

Good luck
Steve
