Hello, I have an 82 Evinrude 115 HP V4, can anyone help me with the torque # for the four inside bolts that are tightened using a hex key? Thanks.

Re: Tightening torque for crankcase cover

All crank case to cylinder nuts and bolts are to be 220-240 in. lbs. or 18-20 ft. lbs. The scocket head or Allen type screws are the same as the cap screws. Start with the center scoket screws. If you do not have a manual for this procedure,I strong recomend you get one. You really need to understand what your doing here before you start.

Thanks for the advice, I posted last night that I was using a manual and it said to tighten those bolts to 5 LBS, and that just seemed too little. This is why I wanted to check with the experts!

The 5Lbs. is probably for the flange bolts. That sounds about ringht for them.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge (and this is due in part to a poorly written manual) but the flange bolts are these 10,11 bolts on the outside of the cover? say, 12 MM? Thanks.

Yes, those are the flange bolts. Most of them will be 7/16's, maybe a couple 3/8's at the top. .
