Evinrude and Johnson outboards go by model number. If you get that we can figure it out.<br /><br />The powerhead does not have to come off to remove the trim unit. However the motor may need to come off the boat for the easiest access.

Dhadley is the man. However, I just got finished re-mounting the TNT unit to my 89' 90 hp. I had to service the trim motor and replace the o-rings. It wasn't as hard as it looks. With the motor up and locked, the crosspin out, the center cylinder fully retracted and the six bolts out, the whole thing came slightly up and out.

1983 140 crossflow.<br /><br />Look at all the power you gained already! It could indeed have a 90 hp powerhead though. Is the exhaust plate (plates between the heads) flat or is there a "hump" in it?

OK. Someone has put a 90 or 115 powerhead on a 140 mid section. No big deal. They use the same midsection.
