After I last flushed my motor, I noticed oil leaking out thru the propeller. It looks like the lower gear oil. Is this possibly only a seal, or worse damage. Do I only have to check and change my lower gear oil? or Do I have to remove my lower unit to fix this? The boat ran fine throughout that outing.

Also ,gear oil out usually means water in when a leaking gearcase is involved. If you suspect leakage, just remove the lower drain screw of the lower unit and inspect the contents.Would't hurt to just drain and refill with new for peace of mind.

Thanks for the smell test idea. I checked the gear oil, which is fortunately a different color and smell from the oil on the prop.

So, it isnt gear oil...However, I will drain and refill the gear case. thanks for the help!!
