can anybody please tell me where the stream of water should be coming out in ths engine. there is 2 strong streams from the plate above the prop shooting down and one shooting back towards the boat. there is also the sputter coming from the 2 holes half way up the leg (exhaust i am guessing)i can't find any holes where water may come out from the top except for the 2 screw holes for the engine mount. I am asking because i was told there should be a constant stream from up top somewhere.
also, does this model engine have an overheating alarm and where would it be so i can test it.

Thankyou in advance for any help.. it is greatly appreciated.

cheers

should be a small pee hole in stbd. side of engine pan
remove hood and look for a rubber hose going to this side of pan
its probably plugged use a tip cleaner or smaal wire to clear out

marine mech, thanks for the quick response. on the starboard side the is nothing but the earth lead going to the engine pan. on the port there is nothing. the only 2 hoses i can see on the engine are on the back going between the 2 cylinder banks to the thermostat
is there any chance that someone has removed the hose and plugged it? if so where would it come from on the block?
i only bought this boat yesterday

many thanks

so by no tell tale do you mean the alarm or the stream of water or both? how can i tell if it is overheating? i ran it for about 20 mins with the muffs on and i could still touch the heads, they were hot but not hot enough to burn me.
sorry for all the q's but i don't wanna kill it the first time out

cheers

There is a horn in the control box that will sound if the engine over heats. You can check it by grounding the tan wire that goes to the heat sensor on either cylinder head. Have the key on for this test.

there is a thread on how to add a tell tale hole in this forum.
also change your water impeller and housing if needed, if it hasnt been done in the last year or 2.
