The motor seemed to stall out like it was out of gas. I took the boat home and replaced the fuel pump, hoses and primer ball. I brought the boat back to the lake and it did the same thing again, but when I got home I tried to fire it up while on the water hose and it fired and ran fine. I again brought it to the lake and after about an hour of running at all speeds fine it stalled out again, now all it does is fire and run a few seconds and cuts off. Is it fuel related, or ignition related? I did have the power pack and rectifier replaced a few months ago so surely it's not that again.

Sounds like some restriction in the carbs or a gas feed problem to the carbs. If you hit the choke switch when she wants to stall and it picks back up, probably restriction in the carbs. Time to clean and rebuild.

Look at the carb bowl gaskets. Are they black or a reddish brown? If they are black, get a couple rebuild kits, a service manual and rebuild. Replace any fuel hoses that may be hard and have lost there flex. These will suck air real easy.

Keep us posted....thanks.

I did replace all of the hoses so I guess I will head down and get a couple rebuild kits. Man I hope this works I want to go out on my boat. It's a lonely feeling not to be able to just hook up and go isnt it?

Well it looks like i may have found the problem. I was taking the carb's ogg when I noticed there was one screw about three quarters loose on the fuel pump. I suspect I was getting alot of air in the fuel line so I put things together and when tot the lake. Everything seems to run fine now but I will take it to the lake again and run a while.

Well I think i am going to just sell the boat and buy a new one. I whent to the lake and the boat ran great. I then whent back out on Saturday and after about two hrs of running fast and idle it did it again. It will start for only a few seconds then die. I think maybe the power pack mey be the problem and at $400 I don't think it's worth it. I have been told these old motors are only worth $100 to $300 depending on condition. It looks like I will be in the hunt for a nwer boat. Maybe a bass, or pontoon boat this time.
