Hello everyone,

I just wanted to tale you my water pump is replaced. It was a piece of cake to do except the trim tab bolt was siezed and stripped the bolt to remove it. I did drill out the bolt and used a easy out a good size one but it would not come out actually broke the easy out doing it so I stopped didn't want to brake any more. Does any one have any ideals how to remove the stripped bolt so I can get a new bolt and put back in?

Once you break an Easy Out, an EDM machine is probably your best choice. Call some local machine shops to see who has one. If you cant find one locally let us know. We can locate someone for you.

Hello everyone,

Can you tell me who I can go to that want cost me and arm and leg. My brother makes tools and works in a machine shop for a living down in South Carolina and I might get him to remove this sheared bolt. But it want be until May 26 when I get to go on vacation and get down there with the boat. But for now will it be alright to run the boat in water with the trim tab off here in Illinois?

Sure, you can run it without the tab. It may have some torque in the wheel that wasnt there before but it should be OK. The tab also has a small passage that adds extra cooling water to the exhaust to help cool the rubber hub in the prop but with todays hubs that should be OK too.

The best thing would be to ship the lower unit to your brother and let him get it out. He can then ship it back. No big deal.
