no water coming from water discharge

I have a 1979 johnson 6 horse. I replaced the impeller because there was no water coming out the water discharge. I am still getting no water out. Any help out there???

dischrge nipple may be plugged. does motor overheat? if not use a paper clip or similar object to try to clear nipple

Did you make sure to install the impeller with the key that fits into the shaft? Otherwise the impeller won't move.<br /><br />Also the plug maybe further into the system, and I was told by the local Johnson mechanic to blow out the lines with compressed air periodically.

Pull the indicator hose off the elbow on the engine and run a wire in there. You can also blow back through it with some air.
