I thought I would start new topic since I have more info.Model# VJ150GLENC My problem is this.I took boat to local johnson dealer to check out miss when boat warm up.He said the power pack was breaking down after warming up.He told me in order to fix problem he would have to replace both power pack and stator, because at one time omc had a recall on this problem and that this motor was never done.I was wondering is this true. Also after talking to another guy he told me omc did the switching out of power pack and stator to reduce the horse power is this true.He also said that you could send power pack out and have rebuilt is this true and would you know who to send to.
Thanks
Shaggy

I would look for another dealer, forget what the other guy said. WWW.Rapair.com has the rebuildt packs and sensors. The ignition coils should be check for arcing from coil to metal plate between the coils and pack, common problem for this engine. If dealer says there was a recall or service bulletin, ask to see them.

They did have to reduce the output on the 60* motors after they came out in 1991 but it was done with port timing rather than electronics.

I remember that when they came out, a sensor came with a replacement pack for a while. Basically they wanted you to change the sensor with the pack. There may have been a bulletin about the pack and stator but I dont remember that.
