Re: FICHT WHEN DID THEY START MAKING

You have my sympathy, RTUTTLE.

Please don't post all capitals, it is viewed as SHOUTING.

I believe that 1997 was the first year of the Ficht engines.

Bombardier changed a lot of things to get those engines reliable, but I don't think the upgrades fit 1998 models.

RTUTTLE - Go to the red search at the top of this page & enter FICHT as a earch arguement. Grab a box of Kleenex and read away.

Re: FICHT WHEN DID THEY START MAKING

The first FICHT came out in late 1996 as a '97 model 150hp with a 20" shaft for the bass boat market.

In '98 and '99, the 25" shaft engines had most of the problems you hear about and tainted the FICHT name. There were factory update kits that also included new cylinder heads and they worked better. But in 2000 they redesigned the motors and called them FICHT Rams and they worked a lot better.

There are a lot of '98 FICHTS still running and doing well, but a lot also had problems. The factory stated once that about 20% had problems.
