seller cant tell me what year 55hp is

I'm looking at buying an Evinrude 2cyl 55hp but the seller dosen't know what year it is. He supplied me with the model no. AE55RSLY<br /> serial no. Q02631156<br /><br />I am hoping someone can help me with this, thanks. John

I think there is something missing in the model number.<br /><br /> A - Australia<br /> E - Evinrude<br /> 55 - Horsepower<br /> RS - Commercial, rope start<br /> L - 20 inch shaft<br /> Y - Non descriptive model designation (model run)<br /><br />There should be 2 letters between 'L' & 'Y' that describe the year.<br /><br /> http://www.brokeboats.com/omcid.html <br /><br />Aldo

Call Evinrude/Johnson - they will give you the info if you can provide all the info off the tag.

Thanks, I looked at that and found another site which had seperate de-coding for commercial models which says its a 1991 model.
