I own a 1984 150 hp evinrude. I've been trying to iron out problems with it to get my 12 yr old on the water with a rod in his hand. Here's the skinny:<br /> Several weeks ago had it out and it ran consistent, but very slow no better than 25 hp. Took her home and discovered 1 of the plug wires was off and pulled the plugs and they looked fouled. I replaced the plugs and on advice of this forum cleaned the carbs by takin them apart and soaking them, everything reassembled fine. I took the boat back out and it would run good then nearly die, I lifted the cowling and it appeared as though it was running out of fuel as I would watch the fuel filter and it would go empty. I looked at all the hoses and many looked old and worn out so I took what I think was the fuel pump off and replaced all the hoses. I then took the pump itself apart by unscrewing the different sections and noticed the front section had some oddball looking shaving in it that looked like wax. I should mention after running the motor the last time I pulled the new plugs I had installed and noticed they were already kind of carboned up and also seemed to have bits of this waxy looking stuff on them that was in the fuel pump. There was nothing in the fuel filter that looked suspicious so I cleaned it up and reassembled it. I then decided to get rid of all the oil as it was a couple years old. Now today after all this work the motor isn't pumping any fuel when you try to start it. I am unsure what to do next. I am also wondering if I may have put the hoses together in the wrong order on this pump assembly. I have them as follows: from the back of the motor on the bottom I have an oil line coming in, then I have a line which goes into the engine block and is very close to the first incoming oil line, then on top and more forward is a discharge line from the fuel pump to the carburators and slightly more forward on the bottom is where the fuel line comes in. Any ideas why I'm not getting gas would be helpful, I'm at a loss. I tried finding this fuel pump on the internet but the sites don't list it. I figure either I have these hoses in the wrong order or the fuel pump is bad....advice would be well appreciated.
