Max HP for this boat *PIC*

My 71 Starcraft 17' did not have a capacity/coastguard spec plate on it when I got it. If the price is right, I might look for a repower and I have no idea of the max HP. Please help...Currently installed is a 60 hydroelectric.<br /><br />Thanks <br />

You can go to the USCG web site and find the calculations for hp ratings. My guess, and this is only a guess is that your max hp tag is gonna say somewhere's between 60 and 75hp. Chief

My guess is also somewhere in the 75 HP range. A 70 is PERFECT.<br /><br />I base that on:<br /><br />1. The same hull, with full windshield and four seats (almost always rated higher) was 85.<br /><br />2. I had a very similar boat with a 90. It was too much. Thanks for the ideas. <br /><br />DJ, <br />Your boat is an inspiration to many, Nice Work! <br /><br />My boat floats, runs(with the occasional hiccup), and fishes and thats about it. Its not pretty, but it gets the job done.

I gave this starcraft Holiday 16 (pretty much the same hull) to my neighbor and it is rated for 85.He put a 75 on it and it is more then big enough.<br />

Contact Starcraft directly and ask them for advice.<br />You will need the hull id number so they can properly id the boat.

garzaglass,<br /><br />Yes I did. I enjoyed it. I did it for something to do. I sold it right after.<br /><br />karrick, <br /><br />Your hull is the same as the Holiday and Super Sport. Both of which were rated for 85. As said, 70 is perfect.

Thanks for the help guys!<br />My local paper has had some outboards for sale recently and I wanted to know what my limitations were. <br /><br />brs517,<br />Trust me, their garge door is white. Just the way the pic turned out. I never even noticed it in the pic before, I was just standing in awe at such a fine piece of nautical transportation.
