50 hp Johnson powered out

I have a 50 hp Johnson that was filled with a 40:1 mix by mistake,then pulled a tube around the lake , now it powers out when leaving the dock and only seems to run half throttle when you floor it. Any ideas guys? Runs well while not in gear, and starts good.

Sounds like either fouled spark plugs or dirty carbs. Start with the easy one, take out your plugs and clean them. A good way of doing this is wipe off the obvious stuff then hold the sparking end over a lighter flame for a minute or so to burn off crud.

40:1 should not have caused this. If plugs are ok, hit the choke/primer momentarily and see if it takes off. If it does, you have a fuel delivery problem. Weak fuel pump, clogged carb(s), air leak etc.
