Evinrude 40 hp Model?

Hello all,<br />I have bought a used 40 hp that was involved in an accident. The mounting bracket was broke and is missing and I can find no model number on the engine. Is there another way to identify the year and model number?<br />Thanks for any help<br />Chasman

first welcome to iboats!!! on the engine block is a core plug with what I think is the serial #. you can jot that down and contact BRP for help. you can take a snapshot and post it on here and someone might can estimate what time frame it was manufactured. it's harder to identify when you don't have a model #

Found what looks like a freeze plug on top of the motor. The number on this plug is G3106366, would this be the serial number? How can I find out the model number from this if it is the serial number? <br />Thanks <br />Chasman
