I aggree with the last comment. I have 2 150hp fichts and have had a wonderful experience but I use only amzoil and do all the maintence myself. These motors were known for their temperment so If you do not know the motor's history don't buy it!!!

Re: 2000 Evinrude 175 ficht

I have the same motor, 2000 150hp. Bought it new in 2000 and have about 400 hrs on it, never had even a single problem with it, all I do is change plugs and l/u oil, use good TC-W3, and put gas in it. Runs perfect every time I go out, starts perfect and gets great fuel economy. I would ask as much info as you can about it's history and what kind of maintenance it's had. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't get it, just telling you my experience with this motor. Have heard all of the horror stories, but I believe they were mostly on the earlier models, and have been told that they were pretty well worked out by the time 2000 rolled around, have also heard that these models had l/u problems, but haven't seen any evidence of that either. I think it's a great motor, but you never know what your getting when you buy anything used, I have bought good old reliable carbed motors and smoked them in 10 hours, used is used. Just my opinion.
