'92 Evinrude 9.9 re-build compatibility ?

My dad has this motor that has never really been serviced other than changing the L/U oil annually. Later this fall I will be doing the carb, fuel pump, L/U seals (leaking), water pump and who knows what else. I also want to add electric start for him because he is finding it difficult to pull start at his age.<br /><br />What I am wondering, can anyone tell me what years are compatible with the 1992 model as far as parts go. I will be fishing for deals on e-bay wherever possible. Are the 9.9 and 15 the same block ?<br /><br />I am familiar with the Merc on-line diagrams, parts lists, sources etc but not with Evinrude. Are there similar reference sites for the OMC family ? Any help would be most appreciated.

Thats exactly what I was looking for. Mucho thanks. <br />Any words of wisdom regarding converting to electric start. Don't need the ability to charge a battery or run any electronics. Just want to have electric start.<br />How do I decode the S/N of the motor ?

Got the motor finished and on the water this weekend. Everything worked out great. A simple push of the button now to start it up. I ended up buying used parts off e-bay one-at-a-time and found some great deals. Took me 6 months to accumulate everything I needed but in the end it only cost me about $300 plus my time. I sandblasted and painted all the parts and they look brand new. Thanks to everyone who offered advice and information for this project.
