what comes with a carb kit?

i bought a carb kit for my 15 horse evinrude 81.<br />took the carb off and changed the parts that i got with my carb kit.only problem is i have leftovers in the bag that my carb kit came with.i changed the float and the pin that holds the float.ichanged the needle vave and the little wire clip that holds the needle vave.i changed the screw that the needle valve sits in .i changed the float bowl gasket.and i unscrewed the lean rich screw and changed the little red washer ,gasket thingy.i changed the gasket that goes between the carb and the engine.leftover parts are 3 large gaskets about the same size as the float bowl gaskets but have holes and shapes cutout throughout them.i also have a 1 inch long piece of flexible rubber hosing and 4 small washer type gaskets and finally i have an metal piece that looks like the snap of a light vest?did i tottally screw up and miss putting all these parts in?for the life of me i could not see any way to take the carb apart anymore than i did.

Sounds to me like your kit fits other types as well.... iff this is right look at the bright side.... You got more then your moneies worth... and who knows when you might need the gaskets that don't fit... or a piece of hose

i was wondering if mayby it was a universal kit of some sorts.it was a genuine evinrude/johnson made by bombardier kit(packaged in mexico i might add)

I picked up a kit for a V-4 today... had gaskets and o-rings for both late and early models in it. Makes sense to have one part # for 2 like carbs. They mix the common parts of the two together then add the different ones in there... so you end up with a kit to rebuild one of at least 2 carbs

Thought I would add if you tore them down... and didn't miss anything then I wouldn't be worried about it...

well i fired it up and and it seems to be running fine in a bucket of water.i,m gonna have to take her out on the lake to really find out though.

Thats whats bad about these motors... they sound good in the drive... but the only way to tell how they are gong to act is take it to the lake... Sometimes you can load her back up after a fun day... and others (in my case) you get back to the dock with the cover off, tools sprung out, and a low hangin head.<br /><br />But thats the fun of it. I'm determined to get her going right... even if I have to cut a hole in the ice to drop the boat...lol
