That's a '73 you have there. Great little engine and the ignition system is dead simple. So if it's not sparking, the problem is up underneath the flywheel. There's a couple methods for getting the flywheel off (have a look
here , the 3hp is very similair to the 4hp). But I like to use a harmonic balancer puller with three 1/4"-20tpi bolts:<br />
<br /><br />Once it's off, check for cracked ignition coils, cracked spark plug wires, burned points. You can pop the entire mag plate off by unclipping the throttle linkage and removing the 4 phillips screws. That 3hp article covers all you need to set up the ignition system, except your flywheel nut torque is 30-40ft/lbs.
