How do you remove the temp sensor from a 1991 Johnson 70 hp?? I disconnected the tan and blue wire and removed the outer cover does the sensor slide out or do you have to take the head off. It seemed to have some rust aroud the sensor I pulled the wire GENTLY but the sensor did not Budge?? I have an occasional issue of motor going into the slow mode but it is not overheating by the hand test can hold my finger on it for about 5 seconds. Powerpack looks iffy to some of the wire are getting brittle on the back. I fish alot during the week and need the old Girl to be very reliable, Not many people on the lake during the week. As always thanks for the replies. I love it when the dealer says he is backed up Cause I know where to get good advice !!!!

Jay

There's a hex head cover that holds the sensor in place Jay. Just screw the cover out and the sensor is accessable. The sensor itself is at the end of the wire. A rubber plug goes on the wire after the sensor. A small screw driver will help to get the plug and sensor out.
