Super Sea Horse Info

I recnetly aquired an old outboard, All I know about it is: It's a Johnson Super Seahorse Model number VXL-10s S/N- j2485801.<br /><br />I want to rebuild and restore this motor during the winter months, can any one tell me the Age and HP of this motor, and if parts and manuals are available.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Frank

VXL-10 is a 1964 60HP, Frank. The L means it has the long (20") shaft.<br /><br />It uses Champion J4C plugs gapped at .030" and works fine on a 50:1 mix of 87octane and TC-W3 outboard oil.<br /><br />New parts might be a challenge, but used parts can probably be had at tcoutboard.com.<br /><br />Try kencook.com for an OEM Manual reprint.<br /><br />Others may have additional suggestions for the parts and manual.<br /><br />Good luck, and welcome to iboats.

The carb and tune up parts are still available for your motor. A lot of the other parts are the same as the 75hp models of which there were 1000's around in their day, so many old established dealers may have used parts piled in a corner.
