What should a 1972 20hp Evinrude Hood look like?

Has any one any idea of what a 1972 20hp Evinrude should look like?<br /><br />Any pictures, as I believe the one on the engine now is a hood from the early eighties.

When you asked the quesion "Is this normal" I tried to find a 1972 20hp on the BRP parts list site but couldn't. If it had been there there would have been at least a drawing of the hood.<br /><br />I suggest you post the model number so that the engine can be positively identified

The 20hp was an "international" Evinrude model. Offered in Canada, overseas, etc. in place of the venerable 18hp offered in the U.S. in the 1970s. Not sure of the reasoning behind it, as Johnson had offered the 20 for several years. Probably a marketing thing...<br />- Scott

The 35 HP on Wiggy's Photo is a 1976, and I dont even think the colours are the original. Chinewalker has the right, that one was on my 73 20 HP, but 72 had the white colour scheme.

The Ebay hood is exactly similar to the 72, just blut top and deco. Paur Moir just posted a link to the right colour for 1972. Yes you can repaint the hood on ebay.
