1974 25 hp evinrude oil/fuel

I have an old 25 hp model 25402M that has good compression and smokes a lot with 24:1 oil fuel mix. What is proper mix with todays oil?

Welcome Jerry, a 1974 motor should be run on a 50:1 mix, your manual will tell you this if you have one.

Thanks Mike, I don't have a manual and was told the 24:1 would work by the guy that sold me the motor. Thanks

An undetermined percentage of iboaters also feel good oil smokes less. When you have a few days with nothing else to do, run a search and start reading.
