Not sure what the heat exchange system plumbing is like but the folks that do are DFI Technologies, Inc. in Orange Beach, Al. Give them a call or visit their web site. They seem to be very knowledgeable. They have just rebuilt an emm for my Johnson Ficht 225 that suffered heat stroke among other things. If you find anything out, post it.

The cooling is a straight tube going thru the ECU on your model engine. It is used to cool the injector "drivers" when the engine is running. The same water also passes thru the fuel-vapor separator to cool the recirculating fuel from the injectors and the electric fuel pump.

If the line gets plugged up with sand, mud, etc. the ECU will get to a temperature where the engine will send a CHECK ENGINE code to the warning lites and the motor will slow down to about 2500 rpm.
