First time to site as well as first time owner of a 2 cycle big motor. What type of maintenance should I be doing on the motor? Ive replaced the water pump. I currently use the boat 1-2 times a week. Any ideas

Re: 200 Evinrude

Waterpump should be replaced about every other year, drain lower unit lube every year. I like to change plugs at the end of each season after fogging for storage, if you do so, and run only the correct champion plugs along with fresh 87 octane fuel. if you have a fuel/water filter, change it as well, then every year after.
Kepp fuel stabilizer in the fuel when not in use, but make sure you've run the engine enough for the stabilizer to be in the engine systems as well.
Keep the oil supply tank clean and use good TC-W3 oil.

Everything walleyehed said, and I like new tstats with the waterpump. Plus keep the carbs nice and clean

Thanks for the advice. I plan on using the boat throughout the winter at least weekly so I will not be winterizing the boat. Any thoughts on lube and lube points? Is there different types of lube based on the location?

Re: 200 Evinrude

Brad
I use OMC Trpleguard grease for the tilt tube and steering pivot grease fittings. Also, I use white lithium lube on the exposed part of the steering rod. Other than that, I occasionally WD-40 the linkage for throttle, shifting, and advance actuators. A clean smear of tripleguard on the prop shaft every season too.
Good luck
