1984 60hp johnson no spark.

Im having trouble with my engine. it has no spark coming out from the coils. i turned it off when it was in gear and then it did not want start anymore. im thinking the ignition switch might be bad. but any sugg. would be appreciated. oh and the interrupter switch is good. thanks for any help. 1984 60hp johnson 2 cylinders

lizards,<br /><br />Look for a fuse, near the powerpack (rear of engine on right side, I believe). It's not easy to see, it's in a small holder that looks like a butt connector.<br /><br />It's a small five amp fuse. You can substitute a regular length 5-amp for testing.

That small fuse should be a 20amp. If the motor is not cranking, then I would check that fuse first.

Courious..... Did you take it out of gear before attempting to start the engine? It has a neutral safety switch that prevents having the engine start in gear.

You have to excuse me i dont know how to start a new topic. so if some could tell the would be great. Anyways I just bought a 73' starcraft and it came with a 60 hp johnson 3 cly. motor. when i bought it knew it didn't get spark. the engine turn over just fine and has good compression i just cant figure out why theirs is no spark. Can any one tell what i could do

What is the differance between a 2 cylinder and a 2 Stroke engine? I have a 1984 Thundercraft magnum 15' boat with a 1984 60 Johnson Motor! Can someone give me a 101 on starting the boat! I am taking the boat out for the first time this weekend, I am a first time boat owner! HELP PLEASE!!! Oh and how do I retreive these messages?
