I just purchased a 12ft Aluminum V-Haul boat that came with an Evinrude18/15028. I'm not sure if this engine actually works but it looks like it's been inoperable for quite some time. Is it worth getting this engine repaired/rebuilt or am I better off trying to trade it for a smaller working engine?

That all depends, can you turn the engine over by hand?

How mechanicly minded are you?

STOP...TINYTIN....STOP!!!! Stop before you get addicted!!!!! :) :)

And it's hard to stop once you get addicted. Seriously....take a compression test to see what kind of shape the holes are in and have a look at the gear case. See what it's going to take to make the engine water worthy again and go from there. Parts aren't as available as they once were but usually can be found. TwinCity outboard, SeaWay marine are just a couple places to look.

Could mean some work to get it running but the feeling is good once you do. Depends mostly on what you like to do.
