make sure you dig out the old O-rings, there were 3 in my vent hole when I ot it, the bottom 2 were so hard at first I thought the aluminum was powdered and thats what I was digging at.

I am going through the same problem, my lower holds pressure, but still gets milky after a tank of gas. I measured the amount of oil going in and coming out and its not enough to be able to tell the difference in a mesuring cup. but is milky none the less.

At this point I'm just changing it with every tank of gas and hoping it doesn't die and that I will be able to re-seeal it soon.

Did you all change out the shift rod orings? There are two of them. When applying a pressure or vacuum test, the shafts need to be moved around and the shift rod worked from foward to reverse while watching the gage. If there are grooves in the shafts, the seal may hold until the shaft begins to rotate. Same with the shift rod orings.

Yes all seals were changed by my mechanic so I am told. He wants me to bring it in for the fourth time to check carrier bearings? I thought I would check for Ideas here first.

no, there was no water in the lower when I got the motor and it shifted tihgt, so I hoped foor the best. The drive seems fine, but I am bidding on a seal kit for it as we speak...

Was the prop shaft and driveshaft checked for grooving? Seals need to be offset, shafts need to be replaced or sleeved if offsetting the seals won't cut it.
