My OMC manual says 0.040 and my Climer manual says OMC made a change to 0.030 which is correct ?. This info is for a 1989 evenrude 225 hp. using champion QL77JC4 plugs.

Re: CORRECT SPARK PLUG GAP

I wouldn't know about any changes but I would:
A. Trust the OEM manual over the Climer.
B. If you do not get a good answer from one of the old salties on this forum, call a dealer.

Good luck.

I think you'll like the .040 better. It made a difference on my 84 90hp.

Thanks to all on your replies. I found a previous post that led to website that indeed confirmed the 0.030 as being correct. If I can find it again I will post it.
Thanks as allways.

Re: CORRECT SPARK PLUG GAP

While it's true that the recommended gap is .030, many of us who run those motors(And others) know that .040 works out better in the Johnny/Rudes, especially if they are run at low RPM's for any length of time. A little more fire at the tip with the wider gap...
