Your prop hub may be slipping.

Easy to check.

1. Make a mark on the prop shaft.

2. Make a corresponding mark on the outside of the prop hub (where the blades are attached).

3. Run the boat.

4. Do the marks still line up? If not, the prop hub is slipping.

i dont know soon as it started i turned the boat off got back to the dock and kit the key real quick and still heard it.the hub is not slipping i checked that.another thing i noticed is that when i push the throttle forward you have to push it further up than usal to get the speed i dont have a clue

I've heard that sound a couple times - both times it was the gears going out. I would check your lower unit oil for metal filings...
- Scott

this sound is like the propeller is hitting rocks but nothing in propeller no metal flakes.do you think it might be something to do with the throttle cable?

Disconnect the shift cable at the motor and shift it into gear by hand. If it still acts the same then I suspect you have a bad/worn clutch dog. If it runs fine then you have an issue with your cable or controls.
