At the end of last season we had our boat out on the water skiing...After 20 minutes or so, if we shut down the engine it would not restart...After we were towed to the dock and loaded it up, she started right up.

I am going to replace starter and solenoid, is there anything else I should do and/or try...I realize this is an older engine and I would replace anything that may be causing this so I can shut down and restart on the water with confidence. Thanks!

We need more information on what is happing with your motor. Is your starter turning? Explane what happens when you try to restart.

The most likely cause is that your battery is not strong enough. The ignition system will not work without turning at around 300 RPM. Get a marine battery with at least 650 cca and make sure that it is fully charged.
[Edit]
Many marine deep cycle/starter batteries serve dual purposes: They function very well as starter batteries, but they also are designed to withstand repeated deep discharging (down to a charge level of 10.5 volts) without having their life span shortened.

The reason it starts out of the water is that it has less back pressure to contend with so it can turn faster.

Don't use a deep cycle battery as a starting battery. That's not what they are designed for. They don't have the quick release of energy like a cranking battery.

Do some independent research on marine batteries, Gooch30.

I stand by the 650cca or stronger deep cycle marine battery for this motor.
