Can anyone tell me the production run of the Evinrude Fastwin 15hp pull start outboard. I believe the first production year may have been 53 or 54' but unsure I however have no idea how long this motor was produced.

Thanks to all for any info you can supply.

I think they go from 1953 through 1968.

Here is a link for a chart of model numbers: 15HP Evinrude Models

If you're talking about the engine itself, I belive the first version of the 19.94 CID engine was the 1949 Speedster (12hp rated). The next year it was the Fastwin (14hp rated). In '53 it was made to produce 15hp, and in '57 the engine was replaced in recreational outboards with the very different 22.0CID 18hp engine. This was quite literally a switch, as the midsection & lower unit remained pretty much the same.
The 19.94 saw commercial service through the late 60s as the Worktwin/Workhorse. Previous to that it was available internationally for commercial operations but not in the US.

My mistake. I forgot that they called that a Worktwin in the 60's

Re: Years of production...Evinrude Fastwin 15hp???

The 15hp run of the Fastwin was from 1953 to 1956. Even within that run there were numerous changes and improvements to everything from the top (recoils were improved) to bottom (gearfoot went from 4-bolt to 5-bolt style) and in between (crankshafts & rods were changed, rubber silencing mounts added, lower belly pan with rubber gasket added, carb intake horn was changed, etc.)

The '56 is the most refined of the Fastwin 15s, with the '55 a close second. I've found the '53 and '54 models to be fairly loud in comparison...

- Scott
