Can't find fuel pump location of 1974 50hp outboard

Can anyone tell me where to locate the fuel pump on my 74' Johnson outboard?<br />This is my first boat, and it needs repairs.<br />Also, any advice on this...<br />I can't get it to start normally, but when I put gas in through the carb intake, it will run.<br />What would the reason be for it to only start this way?

Improper starting procedure for one. Need of a tuneup is another. Inoperative choke or improper use of the choke is another. Carbs needing rebuilding is another. The list goes on. If the engine runs, the fuel pump is not the problem.

What Upinsmoke said T5. Why not post what your procedure is when you try and start. Someonw here will take a look and give ya' some help.<br /><br />By the way....welcome aboard!!

Fuel leaks out of the back while engine is running. Somethings not right.
