1996 Ocean Runner 200 Fuel Mixture Question

Put my boat in the water this passed week and while it was idling at the dock it looks to be idling rich (blackish smoke coming out of the exhaust).<br />It will stall once in a while when I go to put in gear and I'll have to start it, clear it out then it's fine. <br />I looked in the service manual and seems that the idle jets are fixed, unless I'm not reading it correctly <br /><br />Any ideas would be great?<br /><br />Thanks <br />Vic DiMenna

Has it been sitting for a while, like in storage over the cooler months? What spark plugs are you using?

It's been in storage, but it has fresh fuel and I did notice it last season as well.<br />The plugs are Champion L77JC4<br /><br />Thanks

It may not hurt to clean the carbs and perhaps do a decarb job. It may have some carbon build up especially if the top rpms are under 5800. I'd suggest both. After the decarb it would be a good idea to get new plugs.<br /><br />Good choice on the plugs but you may want to use the QL next time.

Should I do a disassemble and clean the carbs? I did do a decarb and fresh plugs before I dropped it in the water. <br /><br />As for the plugs, is the complete number L77QL4?<br /><br />-Vic.

that motor uses Champion QL78YC plugs gapped to .030". Check the latest factory plug recommendation chart.
