Hello everyone well my troubles started when i attempted to install a new water pump myself after dropping the lower case about an inch i was stuck. I posted a request and soon had the answer that the drive shaft was stuck in the power head ok time to take this thing to someone who does this for a living good move right {wrong} so I get the motor back and a three hundred dollar bill i put it in the water bucket to fire it up and bingo no water {mad} after calling the mechanic to tell him he says well it worked fine when it was here. He said it was probebly salt build up in the cooling passages. didnt sit right so i removed the t-stat wich looked like it had been under salt water forever and fired the baby up after atleast a good min water started to pump the problem now is when i start the engine it seems like i have to wait a long time and keep the engine revs up to get any flow almost like its loosing a prim or somthing once water is flowing it seems to work and cool great just the initial start up is this a concern. thank you for all your help you guys have been great

See if you can find a product called Salt Away. It's supposed to clean out salt deposits in engines. Run that through it and see what it does for flow.

I'm not sure if this problem salt deposits because when the water does start flowing it flows great just on the initial start up getting the flow is the hard part

One question fytfire....when you put it in the "bucket" to run....is the water level well over the mating line between the lower unit and midsection?
