You can check for over heat with the "touch" test Ray. Look for the flat areas on top of the block just forward of the heads. If you can get the engine started, let it idle for a while if it will. Then touch these flat areas with your fingers. At idle, you should be able to keep your fingers there for several seconds. If the block is hot, you will know.<br /><br />Check the spark. Each spark to each cylinder should jump at least a 7/16" gap with a strong thick lighting like spark.<br /><br />When was the last time the carbs were overhauled? Any maint history you can share would help. Pump been changed out or t-stats?
