After having a dead battery on the boat, I jumped to my spare battery. Not realizing that the battery was turned backwards, I sparked the battery cables with the reverse charge. I then turned the battery in the right position and restarted the motor. Now an alarm is going off while the motor is running (even with the cables disconnected). I have ran the motor for about 3 hours but the alarm still is on. Did I blow some fuse or burn something on the motor electrical system?

Welcome lzxj1n!...OK to just call you LZ?.. :)

First a question....did you just spark the battery or did you actually connect up? Reason, you could have blown the rectifier on the engine. If you just "sparked" the battery, you might....MIGHT....be ok on the rectifier. And don't ever disconnect the battery cables while the engine is running. That's another good way to cook the rectifier. You might want to check it just to be on the safe side.

Question about the alarm.....does it go off as soon as the ignition switch is turned to "ON" or does it go off after running the engine a while?

If it goes off as soon as the ignition switch is turned on, most likely the warning horn is shorted to ground or is just bad. It could also mean the over heat sensor on the head is bad. Find the single wire coming from the head...should be a tan color. Right there should be a rubber boot covering a knife connector. Expose the knife connector and take the connection apart. If the horn stays on, there is a short further up the harness. If the horn stops, likely the sensor is bad.

If the engine runs for a while and the horn goes starts sounding a steady tone, this means that your engine is overheating. If this is the case, don't run the engine until this problem is taken care of.

Keep us posted on what you find or if you have any history on the engine.

Thanks for the quick resonse -

I just sparked the connections to the battery.
Turned battery around after noticing it was backwards ( I was too much in a hurry).
After the motor started the warning alarm still continues to stay on. The engine isn't over heating as water is running to the system, and I've run it about 1 1/2 hours trying to get the alarm to shut off.
When I turn the key on, the alarm sounds until the motor is shut off. The alarm is on even before the engine is started and continues until the key is turned off.
