60 hp, electric shift. Locked into foreward gear. No neutral, no reverse. Starts in drive.

i had the same problem with mine the part are very expenive and it is hard to find a repair shop tp dp them i woujld sug/ doing the same thing that i did is switching it over to a manual shift if you have a salvage boat yard that is the way to go if you have any questions you can email me at kicking422@yahoo.com or write back in here

Seems like you are not getting either solenoid in the gearcase to pull in, Emmitt. Maybe lost power to the gearshift buttons.<br /><br />FWD is the default gear. You must pull in the REV solenoid to go to REV and both solenoids to go to Neutral.<br /><br />If you have a hydro-electric shift (I don't remember which years that was) you must have the correct, Type "C" oil in the gearcase or it won't work even if the correct solenoids are operated.<br /><br />Did you service the gearcase recently?<br /><br />Do you have a Service Manual? If not, get one. kencook.com sells them or your library might have one to lend.

when it shifts in to the foward gear and wont come out the is so if you are out on the water and it goes you can get it back to the dock and trailer is a saftey
