Evinrude 115 HP won't stop running when key turned off or even by kill switch

Subject explains it all. I'm sure this has been asked before (I hope). I'm new here, this is my first post. I bought a Kingfisher deck boat and hit the lake last night. Everything went fine until I came back in to load it up. Couldn't get the engine to shut off for the life of me. It finally died after about 15 minutes. What's the fix?<br /><br />Thanks guys. The "kill" wire is black with a yellow stripe. Start at the power packs and follow it along. Most likely it will be broken or not connected somewhere between the pack closest to the red cannon plug and the key/kill switch.<br /><br />There's another possibility but lets start here.

Oh, and if you need to shut it off, just choke it until it floods out. Not the best but it will work.

By choke do you mean the prime actuator by pushing the key in?

I'm going out again tonight. I'll try that. It was the most frustrating thing last night. I was just about to just pull the fuel line off of the gas tank. I wonder if i can just splice in a shut-off valve in the fuel line?

The key switch in "Off" grounds the power pack via the yellow and black wire running from the control through the harness to the power pack. <br /><br />The same black and yellow wire runs from the safety lanyard to the power pack.<br /><br />At least for safety reasons, you should seriously consider DHadley's recommendation and check the wire.

Had that happen to me on my '77 Johnson 140 hp, turns out, it was a bad starter solenoid.

this happened to me.the black and yellow wire going to the stbd power pack was totally corroded inside the insulation...looked fine from the outside but no continuity when tested with an ohmmeter. Replaced the wire and it shut down fine.

Hope you guys can help me. I have twin 115 1992 evinrudes. There is one laynard kill switch hooked to both engines. One engine will not run unless you un hook the yellow and black wire at the power pack. I ran a new wire from the power pack to the ignition. So i am stumped what to check next. The kill switch laynard works for the other engine. Any ideas?
