I'm running a Merc 228hp 305CID s/b chevy. What is common to getting water in all 8 cylinders. Already dried out and oil to prevent corossion. I changed the manifolds and elbows about two years ago and boat has been in storage for same amount of time. Noticed the water problem when I started working on it. Drained once and ran it again for about 25 minutes. Dip stick looked good after shutdown but two weeks later found water in cylinders and water again. Boat is still out of water so troubleshooting has been with garden hose on outdrive. Also changed shutter valves since last time in water. Have my heads in shop now. There is a chance that head gaskets were leaking, just want to cover all bases to make sure I'm not missing anything. Still trying to get my manifolds tested. Any suggestions are appreciated.

How old are the manifolds? Sometimes they rot out internally leading to water entering the exhaust ports and if that valve is open in comes the water. If let to sit in that condition and the exhuast valve is closed but the port is full of water it may try to start with a valve rusted into the guide causing bent pushrod(s) and running on less than all eight. And no doubt probably broken rings on the one(s) where the valve was open.

Sorry, I can't write this in a different language but it says manifolds are two years old and heads are already in shop so there were no bent push rods or any other damage. I corked up one end of manifold and filled with water to see if I can get water to come out exhaust port but they looked good and without getting them pressure checked I don't know of any other way to check them for internal damage.
