John made not on another thread but thought this might get to you sooner. Just realized in all my confusion that I mounted my smart tabs at the outer edge of hull, do not know how I managed to forget the 3 in. deal but did. It is a Ranger 364 pops out of the hole and no chine at 63 mph at 5500 rpm on 175 Johnson. I see no need to move them or have I created a problem that I do not realize.

Re: Calling Nautijohn

Loaded fuel, live well 2 fisherman bow rise was 8-10 secs out of the hole, now I am out immediately and bow rise is not noticeable. I was scary above 55 now at 62 I am smooth and as I get all the way out of the water it is amazing. I recommend them 100% so far and I am a total cluts with my hands but installed them with no problem except I put the all the way out. Make sure you get the correct ones, angled transome like mine required the angled tabs but Nautijohn and his staff are really helpeful. Good luck get them you will have no buyers remorse.

TXS
The reason for keeping them inside a bit is to insure that they do not catch on things and to assure that they do not cause unwanted splash.

Otherwise no problem. If yo deside to move them in call me first and I can save you some trouble.

If your running ok as they are then don't fix what ain't broke. Can't remember who said that but he must have gotten around!

Hi Lube;

I am going to be in Las Vegas for the Marine Trade show next week. been very busy these past few months and appologize for not call as i said. We will be introducing two new trim tabs sets call ProTrollers which allow the plate to be deployed 90 degrees to act as trolling brakes. Raise the lever and they come up to the normal running position for trim tabs.

The benefit to having the plates down on each side of the boat is not only better braking but better steering and tracking at these super slow speeds. When you restrict the prop thrust like the other trolling plates you also inhibit the control and steering.

We have had a number of customers who walleye fish and wanted to know if the Smart Tabs would slow the boat down, and i have had to tell them NO. Thus the reason for the ProTroller series.
They won't be ready until late this year and should be only about $30.00 more than the standard Smart Tabs.

Alright John what kind of trade-in allowance!! LOL. I think I will leave mine where they are for the present time. Still working on my minor cavitation problem but all else is too good to change. May buy a Jet ski for the kids to ski behind and leave my Ranger alone with its tabs.

Oh yeah and Lube dude thanks all the way from Texas. I am surprized no deals have been struck to attach them except the boat manuf. would not want to share the profit so we can just keep on ordering from JOHN.
