Re: bassboat setup questions

sounds like might be time for carb maintenance.doesn't take much tarnished fuel to develop idle or performance problems .need more info on present motor performance to advise further. WOT rpms? midrange performance of motor?

the motor is turning around 5200 rpms as is
i get good hole shot now planes out pretty quick
but im willing to lose the hole shot for the top end
i believe it has a 25 pitch prop
as far as midrange i dont quite understand

hydro there are a number of props that will get you more bow lift, the hopefully more speed. do a search for prop selection and there is a link to a page that has everything you need to know. without using a jackplate you will only be able to play with props to get more speed. also make sure that there is no hook in your hull, the last 3 feet is the most important.

I believe peak rpm range for your motor is 5600 . increasing pitch on prop will only lower it further and cause motor to lug and overheat. You need to select a prop pitch that will allow your motor to operate at or near its WOT recommended range. You'd probably get better top end from one of slightly lees pitch than the one you are currently operating with.
