i bought a rectifier, and put it on.(i forgot to mention the batteries were only three weeks old)i charged the bateries, then hooked everything up.she kicked right over!!!idled at approx.1000 rpm's for 45 mins, with the switch on both.shut her off 3 or 4 times she kicked over each time!!mercury dealer told me there are only two components in this system related to charging, the stator, and the rectifier..the previous owner told me he replaced the stator, not too long ago..hopefully this has cured my problem.i'll keep you posted.thanks to everyone that answered my post!!!!! my e-mail is bostonbreakwater@scubadiving.com CHEERS!!!!! :)

HI BD.<br /> Glad to hear its running again.Keep a close eye on those voltage levels for a while when you go out.Your freshly charged batteries should start the motor well.Don't assume the problem is fixed till you run it for a while to get the whole picture.Another thing you might want to do is to get ahold of a battery load tester.Test the batterys for charge holding ability.I discovered a weak battery(Grp.27Diehard) this way on my boat.Even new batteries can be defective/bad. :)
