mercury 2,5hp

just purchased a second hand mercury 2.5hp for my tender looks like new but approx 4 years old.<br />Tell-tale is there but fairly weak particularly at tickover. Is this usual or a sign of worn water pump impeller / blockage (I assume it has a water pump).<br />If impeller is suspected guidance upon how to change it / check it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, John.<br /><br />When purchasing a used engine, it is a good idea to assume that it needs a new impeller.<br /><br />When planning to work on an outboard, it is very good idea to get a manual.<br /><br />Good luck.

You wont have much of a tell-tale at all...it will just spit a little out the exhaust ports.<br />NO4NJNK
