Oil pump for older Mercury outboard

I recently bought an older boat, Thompson 18' with a Mercury 900 O/B (@1978, 2-stroke, 90HP, 6 cyl.). Everything runs fine. I bought a manual for the engine and saw that you can buy an inline oil pump/injector that hooks in the line between the fuel tank and the engine - not hooked to the engine directly. Does anyone know about these? Are they worth it? Anything to be worried about?

Also, any hints/tips about this engine I should know about?

Thanks!!
Dave

Oh damn, I was kinda thinking that way. Thanks for the replies!!!
(Hmmm, how would I know if the pump was working...until the engine seizes? ) Guess I'll keep up with the tried and true pre-mixing!!
