Hey guys,<br />Well I got up the nerve today to pull the carbs and put a kit in them on my 74 Merc 500...started it up to get it ready for season and noticed fuel coming out top of the top carb. No sweat on that, but as I was removing stuff to get the carbs off, I noticed the wire cluster (black,white,red) coming out of the distributor is really toast. And the plastic on the dist is pretty shot, too. If I decide to rewire what I've got, what gauge wire do I use? On the other hand, a new distributor and plug wire set would be just about as easy to re-install. Okay, where can I find a replacement distributor and how much sticker shock?? Also, looks like the plug wires and center wire don't detach from the cap or the red thing-a-ma-bob the center wire goes to (right under the solenoid. What's up with that? If anyone can hook me up I would greatly appreciate it. Boat only lacks beer and crappie/bass at this point. I wanna go fishin!!!
