If Im reading the chart right I get 67 4 cylinder.
Dont know if they ship overseas but try
Grubbs at: www.oldmercs.com They will have
reprint owners and service manuals for your
motor. You also may be able to find info at
Johns Old Mercury Web Site www.pfs-ware.com
look around there is a forum and some terrific links.

Go to google and punch in "60 hp outboard" There is a big british outboard concern in the first 10 choices that pop up.Their site features an e-mail adress. If it is a '67 they can probably help you.
The mercury company has European and yes even dutch dealer sites on its website. They should be able to help you too.
If this does not help,go to www.selocmarine.com
klick on bookstore and then outboards and pick the book of your choice. These are repairbooks that are as good as manuals. You can order these books direct from the company. They do ship to Europe.
Good luck.

Re: Year of engine and possible service manual in europe

i know the seloc and clymer books, i have one already, but i'm a service engineer myself so i'm kinda used @ the extended service manuals. the clymer books are too "confusing" as in there is absolutely no sequence in them. they don't erm... how should i put this, go al the way into the matter. as this is my first engine i'm planning to rebuild, i need as much info as i can possibly get, including parts naming, overall pics of the engine and parts etc. I've been searching the net for dutch dealers, and i have found some but they all sell the clymer book and refuse to sell me the service manuals(or even lend me the book for an hour) as i service copiers/printers i'll be able to copy the book within 15 minutes. that's how stupid the dutch dealers are :(

Gertjan, Merc didnt make a 500 in 47/48.
A merc. 500 is a 4 cylinder 50 hp.I believe built in the 60s I have a 1965 Merc 500.
Either you got on the wrong chart or you dont have a Merc.500 or maybe the wrong number.

I do not know how stupid the dutch dealers are, but I do know that they have the manuals....
Try the public library of the American cultural institute.
