Can't help you with the 225XLE but I know that Grew in Canada has been making Cutters for the last several years. We bought a new Cutter in 2003 (I think it's a 173 model) Anyway they are made by Grew, you can get to the Grew website at this link Grew Canada but it doesn't mention anything about Cutter, I know there used to be a link for Cutters but it doesn't seem to work. Here is a link Boatland Canada for our dealer maybe you could try an email to either link to see if you can find more info. Last but not least here is a link to a local boat show that did a write up on 1998 205 XLE might help you a bit...good luck ! Cutter 205 XLE

Had the same problem as you 2 years ago.Seemed like a decent boat,I looked at alot of boats, and I would compare it to Wellcraft Excel, should put slightly above in price compared to a bayliner capri. Just my oppinion though.

Jim

The boat called Cutter was made by Grew Mfg. You can find the boats on their website but now they are called Navigator boats . I have been eyeballing the boats for a few years and the models appear the same , nice fishing boats . They seem to have just changed the name.

Hi franger.....seems to be a pretty decent package. We ordered a few extras when buying. Even though it came with a convertible top we got the tonneau cover rather than putting up the full top all the time $600, boat was going to be primarily used for skiing/wakeboarding and found that the back to back seat on the passenger side didn't leave enough leg room, had them install a second bucket seat instead which is great as it will swivel 360 degrees, you want the spotter facing the rear anyway $350. Had them install a special ski pole (has a big bracket bolted in the bilge) advantage is there are no support arms to get in the way, pulls up both sons (230lbs and 175 lbs) together no problem.$400. Also upgraded the offered engine from a 90hp to the max allowed 115hp for the extra power for skiing $1200. Boat will do in the low 50's at around 5200 rpm. Overall finish is good, layout is good, even with 2 buckets boat will hold 7 passengers. Certainly have no complaints. Let me know if you want anymore info or pictures.

Re: Any info on 1998 Cutter 225XLE

thanks for the reply b.b. the one i'm looking at has a drivers bucket and passenger sleeper seat, a combination i've not seen before but apparently the purchaser had the choice. as you mentioned it has the convertible top but travel or mooring covers were not availible but the dealer could have them custom made (i called boatland canada for more info as they are a cutter dealer but this is a private sale). again, as it is a used package i have to make do with the 90 merc, hopefully it has what it takes to pull a couple young kids on a tube. boatland says it'll do in the high 40 mph range. the price is 13,700 as compared to the dealers 18,750 out the door price for a 05. if you have any pics please send them as i could not find any. my email is fkstanisa@sympatico.ca. appreciate your help.

franger...the default config was to have one sleeper seat in but we didn't like it. Boatland Canada was where we ordered/bought ours. There is another fellow on this forum called steam_mill who also bought a 2003 from Boatland with a 90 hp, I think he's pretty happy with his although recently had an engine problem. Have sent a few pics to your email address. Also got an email from Grew (makes Cutter) and they are still building them but the Cutter web page is down (under construction)
