motor runs and idels great when in the driveway. alot of power.but when i put it in the water it doesn't go but maybe 5 m.p.h. no power. i checked the fireing on all four cyln.also sprayed some carb. cleaner in both carbs.could someone please help.
thanks for the info. i just bought some new ones and they are are all in the right places. the motor idels good and runs good when not under any load.no misses. but i will double check tomorrow, thanks again.
Spraying carb cleaner in a carb does nothing unless the carb is disassembled first! I suspect one of the carbs is fouled and will need to be rebuilt. You are essentially running on two cylinders and you should not attempt to run it further until you've dealt with the fuel issue, or at the very least eliminated it as a cause. If the carb is indeed fouled up, the two cylinders it feeds aren't getting proper lubrication...<br />- Scott
thanks scott, will tear both carbs down tomorrow.i know on a 50 mercury you have to take alot alose to get to them, but it will be worth it.thanks again.
today i took the carbs off and cleaned them. i put the boat in the h20 and it ran good for like 20 min. then it went back to low power agin. any suggestions? thanks
