Hi all. OK. I've had a lot of trouble getting a boat that I just purchased up and running for the season. Here's the skinny...

It's a 1979 Mercury 175 hp Outboard. It will begin to fire the cylinders after about 10 seconds of starting with the choke. (pretty normal response time I'm told) I can get her to scream when I have her in neutral and I'm throttling her, but at idle she dies. After I put it in gear I can only go slow because if I throttle her up she dies. Then after about 30 minutes of running on the water at this slow speed she'll die and won't start back up.

I took the recommendation of a buddy to clean out the carbs when he noticed a lot of fuel leaking out. So I took them all apart and noticed a large about of "clear jello". (yup, the floats were stuck) I sprayed everything down REAL GOOD with carb cleaner and reassembled. The fuel problem is gone but I'm left with major idle and throttle hesitation problems.

Anything to try would be truly helpful!
-shaun
